1How do I get to Bocas?
From Panama City
By air: The easiest option is to fly from Panama City directly to Isla Colón with Air Panama or Fly Trip. The flight takes about an hour.
By bus: Take a bus from Panama City to Almirante. Tranceibosa is a long-standing local bus company, and Expreso Bocas also currently runs Panama City–Almirante services.
By boat: From Almirante, cross to Isla Colón by water taxi. PanaBocas Express runs regular services, and Ferry Bocas also connects Almirante and Isla Colón.
From Costa Rica
By air: Sansa flies directly from San José (SJO) to Isla Colón in about an hour. There are few flights, so book early.
By bus: Take a bus from San José to Sixaola (5–6 hours), walk across the border into Panama, then take local buses to Almirante. Shuttles from San José, Puerto Viejo and Cahuita also do the full trip for you, border and boat included.
By boat: From Almirante, take a water taxi to Isla Colón, the same as from Panama City.
Once you're here, you're officially in Bocas.
2What's the weather like?
Bocas is tropical: warm and a little unpredictable. It might rain, but it's never really cold — you can get sunshine, a tropical downpour and sunshine again, all in the same day.
Our advice? Pack for the rain, but expect the heat.
3When is surf season?
The main surf season runs from December to March, with another good surf window from June to August. Conditions depend on the swell and the beach, so stop by when you arrive and we'll tell you which beaches have the best waves that day.
4What should I pack?
Swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes, a light rain jacket or poncho, a reusable water bottle and bug spray.
Remember, you're not just coming to the beach — we're in the jungle too.
And leave a little room in your bag for something you'll inevitably buy at the shop.
5Do I need cash?
It's always a good idea to carry some cash in smaller bills. Most places accept cards, but smaller businesses, water taxis, local food spots and some vendors may be cash only.
6How do I get around?
Bocas is easy to get around. Water taxis are the way to travel between the islands, while taxis, bikes and e-bikes are popular ways to get around Isla Colón.
But honestly, Bocas Town is small enough that you can walk to most places — especially if you're not in a hurry and don't mind getting a little tan.
Bocas Town is laid out on a simple grid. Avenues run west to east and are named with letters, from Avenida A (the southernmost) to Avenida H (the northernmost). Streets run north to south and are numbered from Calle 1A to Calle 15A. Calle 3A is Main Street.
7Where is the Too Much Tours Shop?
We're right in the heart of Bocas Town on Avenida E Norte, between 1st and 2nd Street, Isla Colón.
We're also Filthy Friday HQ — look for the cutest little info shop on the island.
8What tours do you offer?
Our tours change with the seasons and whatever's happening around Bocas.
Right now, you can join our Bocas Town Walking Tour, Baseball Tour or Filthy Friday, with more local adventures added throughout the year.
9Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend booking ahead, especially for tours with limited spots. Some tours have a minimum number of people, so booking early helps us get everything organized.
Walk-ins are welcome if we have space.
10Can I book if I'm traveling alone?
Absolutely! Come solo, meet some people and join the fun.
You definitely don't need to arrive with a group. Our tours are a great way to meet other travelers and experience Bocas together.
11Are tours available in English and Spanish?
Yes! Our tours are available in both English and Spanish.
12What happens if it rains?
Welcome to Bocas! A little rain usually won't stop us.
If the weather gets too heavy or unsafe — especially for boat travel — we'll cancel or reschedule the tour and let you know.
13Can I walk in?
Of course. Come say hi!
Walk into the shop for information, bookings, local recommendations, or just to cool off and have a look around.
For tours, walk-ins are welcome if there's space.
14How do I pay?
You can book online with a credit or debit card, or come into the Too Much Tours Shop and pay by cash or card.
